The Olympics Represent All 16 Career Clusters!

?

The Olympic Games certainly provide a lot of food for thought, don?t they? From many perspectives ? athletics and modern medicine to politics and advertising, one can find plenty to think and talk about while they?re on.

Being careerwise, I started thinking about all the professionals who had a hand in making them happen. And, that these professionals represent every one of the 16 Career Clusters.? I?ve used the brief definitions of the Clusters as provided by the State Directors of the Career Technical Education Consortium.

It would be a fun exercise (Olympic-style) to have kids list some jobs for each Cluster that they think would be important to making the Games possible, secure, entertaining and memorable for the participants, attendees, home audiences and host country.

Think about everything ? from travel to food to clothes to music to health care to sponsorships to adminstration and maintenance.

This kind of exercise helps kids think big about their futures and to realize that a whole lot of fascinating jobs are frequently behind the scenes at popular events.

Ready, set, go!
