Abstract

Fax communication, as a traditional still image transmission method, is an important part of modern communication technology. Along with the development of Internet, the integration of IP communication and traditional telecommunication technology is growing very fast. In this situation, the emergence of IP Fax (Facsimile over IP, FoIP) is very necessary.T.30, ITU-T specified procedures, give a detailed description and requirements on the facsimile communications, signal formats, control signaling and error correction method in the ordinary telephone line for G3 fax machines. T.38: Procedures for Real-Time Group 3 Facsimile Communication over IP Networks, which give a certain description for real time IP Fax communication, such as message format, error correction method and so on.This thesis, based on the Blue Dragonfly Series FXS Voice-Fax gateway, learned Real-time IP Fax related procedures and protocols, according to the actual needs, designed T.30/T.38 Protocol Converter hardware architecture with Blackfin BF532 processor, then implemented network controller, memory controller, FXS and other peripheral interface circuits; at the same time, designed the software architecture and software function modules; then given a detailed code implementation, the integration with PJSIP and the expansion of SDP; and finally built a test environment for the verification and analysis of protocol conversion correctness, Fax functional integrity and operation reliability. These series FXS Voice-Fax gateways are already in practical use and have achieved economic benefits.
