Week 31 ? Hats on Hold ? Bump is taking over ? Millinery And ...

?

Taking over in every way imaginable.

My Body is no longer my own ? it?s being shared with an active wriggly thing that just keeps growing with no regard for my bladder. My brain, as mentioned in an earlier post, will not focus on anything else except the arrival of wriggly thing in the New Year.My house is slowly becoming a family home and my Calendar is full with NCT classes, Doctors and Mid Wife appointments not to mention weekend shopping trips for buggies with my handsome husband.

Last week a lot of progress was made? in terms of getting ready for Bump.

It was the Baby Show at Earls court http://www.thebabyshow.co.uk. The Baby Show is well worth a visit. I came away with really big saving on a large part of my shopping list, ?and the ticket was just ?16 with a coupon my Mother in Law cut from the newspaper. What?s more it gave me the opportunity to see just about every imaginable make and model of buggy under one roof. So, today I dragged my husband to Oxford Street to view the short list and we bought the buggy. The Bugaboo Bee won out.?http://www.mamasandpapas.com/bugaboo-bee/ It seems it is by far the best option for the urban Mummy, luckily Mama?s and Papas price match so it wasn?t quite as painfully expensive as it could have been, and they are holding it for us until Mid December.

I got very excited about baby furniture too. After a lot of time looking at the many options on offer we settled on the Oak Hill set from Lollipop Lane http://www.lollipoplane.co.uk/uk/furniture/new-oakhill/oakhill-three-piece-room-set-1.html . It?s little wardrobe fits perfectly in the alcove in our room and it?s insides (drawer, shelves and hanging space) are really practical. Plus it was on offer last week,? and it is so cute!!. It came flat packed on 24hr delivery and I have already put together the wardrobe and began filling it was my purchases from the baby show.? At 7 months pregnant I did have to recruit my husbands muscle power but the instructions are fairly easy to follow and it feels really sturdy. The ?wood? finish is also really good ? easily as nice as more expensive brands such as silver cross.

In slightly more controversial baby news I had my whooping-cough and Flu jabs. It was a mistake to have them one in each arm on the same day. I was left with two sore arms, which made getting a comfortable nights sleep impossible. I did a little research before having my jabs? http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/whooping-cough-vaccination-pregnant.aspx To be honest I am surprised by comments from other Mums to be on the NHS website.? A number of ladies are worried by the advice to have the jabs, given that full clinical trails have not taken place on pregnant women. Here?s my opinion. Whooping cough kills around 1 in 20 infected babies ( this year 225 babies have caught whooping-cough and 10 have passed away) , infection can come from the most unexpected places, so it?s not realistic to protect our babies from this very real risk without the vaccine. ?From the studies that have taken place there is no evidence that the vaccine carries any risk, yet the risk from whooping-cough is deadly and proven. I am glad the NHS has given us the option to have the vaccine.

To finish on a lighter note . No/very little progress was made on my hats. I spoke to an interesting woman from http://www.mumsclub.co.uk at the baby show but that was about it. ?I really need to push on with designing Spring Summer, and start phase 2 of the marketing. If baby is taking up this much time now ? what is it going to be like when she?s born??

Fireworks Likely Cause Of Bush Fire, Family Evacuated... | Stuff.co.nz

A family had to evacuate their home north of Auckland this morning after a scrub fire, possibly caused by fireworks, broke out near their property.

The tenants had to flee their home just after 3am after the bush fire, at least 40 by 20 square metres, encroached on their house in Manly, Whangaparaoa, a Fire Service spokesman said.

It was likely caused by fireworks, the spokesman said.

The fire was now out and the tenants back in their home.

5 Tips For Caring For Our Elderly Disabled ... - Healthy Family Matters

Mom and dad, or grandma and grandpa, seem like they?ll be around forever when we?re young. But as we get older we see our loved ones start to wither. Whether it is surgery or time that makes your loved one less mobile it is always important to give them the best care you can to prolong your time with them. Mobility aids are a big help but there are additional things the family can do to make life easier for their elders. Here are some tips for taking care of our ever loving elderly disabled.

Make It Easy To Get Around

If your loved one is staying at their house there are a few modifications you can make to ensure they are comfortable getting around. Installing grab bars and rails in the halls or bathrooms is especially good for someone coming off hip surgery. This also ensures that they?ll be able to get around if they lose their walker or cane. Wheel chair ramps are good to have at both their house and your own in case they come to visit. A little ramp could also be fun for the kids on their bikes as well!

5 Tips For Caring For Our Elderly Disabled Loved Ones

Go Grocery Shopping

Ask them for a list of what they want and go grocery shopping for them. This can be a sensitive area because this is usually where they realize how much they are depending on you and might insist on doing their own shopping. Insist on doing it for them but ask them what THEY want. Don?t just get them whatever you feel is necessary.

?Take Them Places

Being cooped up in the house all day can get boring very quickly. Take them for a drive somewhere, ask them how they?re doing, picnics or trips to the zoo with the family are great ideas here.

Play Games With Them

Learn to play one of the hundreds of card games our elderly know today. My own grandma had hip replacement surgery and in 3 days of staying with her and caring for her I learned 6 new card games. Board games are usually better options with the kids. Grandma and grandpa always love doing activities that make them AND the children happy.

Phone Calls

A simple call can immediately make someone?s day. Check in with them and ask them how they are doing from time to time, especially if you are far away and can?t visit them very often. Conversations with our elder loved ones are so precious, especially when they?re health is in question. You?ll always be glad you called no matter what happens after you hang up.

'Fairly Legal' Cancelled By USA Network

Nellie Andreeva

Fairly Legal Cancelled USA NetworkEXCLUSIVE: USA Network?s Fairly Legal won?t return for a third season as the network has opted not to continue with the series starring Sarah Shahi. Meanwhile, I hear USA is finalizing a deal for a 13-episode seventh-season pickup of veteran Burn Notice.

Burn Notice Renewed Season 7 USA?s decision to cancel Fairly Legal comes after the network tried revamping the series after its ho-hum first season. USA brass gave the show a second-season renewal based on its appealing star, Shahi, and its potential but stressed that the show needed to get better. There was a showrunner change and casting tweaks on the show, but in the end, the improvements proved not enough to warrant another renewal. Paired with the final season of In Plain Sight, Fairly Legal started its second season with 3.5 million viewers, dropping to 2.5 million by the end of its run. Meanwhile, Shahi just booked a recurring role on freshman NBC drama Chicago Fire. ?Sarah Shahi is undoubtedly a star and we?re thrilled she?ll be joining our sister network NBC on Chicago Fire, USA said in a statement to Deadline. ?We are proud of Fairly Legal and thank the very talented cast and crew for two fantastic seasons.?

Fairly Legal joins USA freshman Common Law, which also has been cancelled. The future of Necessary Roughness is still up in the air. Meanwhile, Burn Notice is the latest USA summer series to get a renewal, along with recently picked up Suits, Royal Pains, White Collar and Covert Affairs. Its 13-episode pickup is smaller than the 16-episode Seasons 2 and 3 and 18-episode Seasons 4,5 and 6. USA also recently gave a 13-episode renewal to veteran Royal Pains after several supersized seasons.

USA?s renewed shows will be joined next summer by Graceland, the new series from White Collar creator Jeff Eastin. Production on that series, starring Daniel Sunjata and Aaron Tveit, is starting this week in Fort Lauderdale, Fla with Serinda Swan joining in a recurring role.

Axelrod: Obama?s enthusiasm 'coming from his loins'

David Axelrod (Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

LIMA, Ohio--Speaking to reporters here on Friday after a full day of passionate campaign speeches from President Barack Obama, senior adviser David Axelrod said that Obama's enthusiasm "is coming from his loins.

"I've never seen him more exhilarated than he is right now. He believes in what he's doing. He believes in what he's fighting for. You can see in the speech that he's delivering that this is coming from his loins. I just wanted to say loins," Axelrod added with a smile. "I wanted to see if I can get loins in the story."

The adviser also noted that he thinks "the thing that's most difficult about the presidency is by definition you do get a little bit confined, and you can't get out as much as you'd like, and the interaction with people that he's having and the ability to get out among people is a great reminder to him of what he's fighting for. And when he looks out at those crowds he sees the people who he's fighting for, and it's a very energizing thing."

Obama spent the entire day touring Ohio, delivering speeches in Hilliard, Springfield and Lima.
