  • Apple begins selling unlocked iPhone 5 in the US, starting from $649 (update: LTE band questions) Yesterday Apple began selling the unlocked iPhone 5 to its US customers. Now you can use the iPhone 5 on any carrier you please?provided you don't mind paying the full unsubsidized price. The unlocked iPhone costs $649, $749, and $849 for the 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB models, respectively. That may seem steep, but it allows you to upgrade the phone whenever you want, among other things, so it's often worth the price. [Engadget]
  • Apple Introduces Variable Cost iTunes Gift Cards to Third Party Retailers for the Holidays Retailers will soon be getting iTunes gift cards with variable pricing for the holidays. The cards will allow customers to put whatever amount they want on them at the time of purchase, provided that it's between $15 and $500. You won't however, be able to purchase these cards online.   • Staples Announces In-Store 3-D Printing Service Staples is prepping a new service called Staples Easy 3D that will allow customers to make use of in-store 3D printers. To make it happen, all you'll have to do is upload your designs to a website, and then you can pick up your creation or have it shipped to you. The service will launch in the Netherlands and Belgium in the first quarter of 2013. No word on the US launch, or how much it will cost. [Wired]
  • Scoop: Key Pricing and Launch Details of Redbox Instant Revealed Details have emerged regarding Redbox Instant, the company's Netflix-like streaming service currently in private beta. The service will have a $6 and $8 tier, with the latter providing four credits for use towards rentals at Redbox vending machines in addition to a streaming library. Users will also be able to stream new release films for prices starting at 99 cents. As it's still in beta, all of this is subject to change before Redbox Instant goes live. [GigaOm]
